The short version
Needlewatch is free, runs entirely on your own Mac, and comes with no warranty. It is a tracking aid, not a measuring instrument — the decision to replace a stylus is yours.
Use of the app
Needlewatch is provided free of charge. You may use it for any purpose, personal or commercial. There is no account to register, nothing to pay, and no usage limits.
What it does and doesn't guarantee
Needlewatch records the time you tell it to record. It does not measure stylus wear, inspect your cartridge, or listen to your turntable — it counts hours from when you press Start to when you press Stop, and adds them to whatever estimate you entered.
Its totals are therefore only as accurate as your own input. Actual stylus life varies with tracking force, alignment, record condition, and cleaning. Treat the numbers as a well-kept logbook, not a verdict — and if a stylus sounds wrong, trust your ears over the gauge.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. In no event shall the author be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of the software.
This includes wear to your records or equipment. Needlewatch is a reminder to check on your stylus; it cannot protect your collection on its own.
Your data
Your listening history is yours, stays on your Mac, and is never transmitted. See Privacy for the details.
